About Pets Alive

Pets Alive is a no-kill animal shelter, located in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, about 1 1/2 hours from New York City. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and place animals in need. Victims of neglect, abuse, and violence, many of them have special needs and have been rejected by other organizations. Animals at the sanctuary range from dogs and cats to farm animals, exotic birds, and many others. Many of the animals at Pets Alive are older, have special needs or require special care. Pets Alive receives no money other than private donations and places over 1000 animals a year.

About Orange County Veterinary Hospital

Located in Goshen, NY, OCVH was first established in the 1920’s by Dr. John Kane. Originally the practice was dedicated to equine and bovine medicine. Horse racing and dairy farming were major contributors to the local economy. Dr. Alan Shanker purchased OCVH in 1982. During the 80’s the cows started disappearing along the countryside, and farms were subdivided to make way for housing. Our community was changing along with the animal population. "Dogs and cats" were taking over our homes and our hearts. OCVH is more than just a veterinary practice. Orange County Veterinary hospital is a “Dedicated Care” facility focusing on the total health care and well being of your pet.
